Summary As smart vehicle implementation continues to mature, their ability to communicate with other vehicles and their surroundings has also matured. Much like the trust system for connecting to websites in a browser, some vehicular communication trust models rely on certificates. P2PCD is a protocol defined by IEEE allowing vehicles to securely distribute certificates in order to ensure trusted communication. Our research project uses Veins, a vehicle-to-x framework to develop a reference implementation of the P2PCD protocol.
